Feet Forward Project – February 11th- February 15th 2008

The project will take part over a week, there will be arrange of activities for the young people to take part in and attend. There will be various football activities, which will require discipline, concentration, listening to instructions and then following through as well as team building and pulling together.

A positive group activity. There will also be an Inspirational Speaking Day where people from the local community will come and speak about themselves how and what they achieved regardless of the obstacles they faced. There will be Michael McFarlane MBE UK Athletics & former Olympian, Rodney Hinds Sports Correspondence for The Voice and accomplished author on Black History, Andy Ansah Former Pro Footballer and now top football choreographer (GOAL films) as well as Chris Ramsey THFC Youth Academy Director & Ronnie Herel – Top R& B DJ. After the speaking there will be an opportunity for all attendees to speak to the people if they have any questions.

The following day there will be a Master class by Mike, Chris & Andy so they can see what they do the hard work & dedication it takes to achieve, in the afternoon a representative from The Safer Neighbourhood Team will come and speak about Gun & Youth Crime as well as Operation Trident.

There will also be a trip to Football Youth Academy to meet & train with the young people who attend, this will be an opportunity to meet people of their own age from similar backgrounds & BME groups and to see & hear their outlook to their future as well as the attitude they have, the hard work, dedication, discipline and respect that they apply.

Finally there will be trip to The Docklands Museum to see The Slavery Exhibition, this will hopefully let them see the lives that these people faced, how they were treated individually and as a race and how they came through it, these could have been their past relatives & fore fathers.

This course is about making young people think about who & what they are, where they come from and where they want to go and what to achieve. They will be given opportunities to try different things, to meet & speak to people who have achieved and are giving back to their community as well as people of their own age to see there are different avenues to take rather than guns & gangs. This course will look at the positive side of life and what they can do rather than what will happen if they enter into any type of crime at all.
